Manufacture

Signs made in durable, long-life materials to spec or above, backed by a 10-year warranty.

In short

Every sign we supply is made to the approved specification or above it, in stove-enamelled aluminium and other long-life materials. Before dispatch it is checked against the production drawing for contrast, tactile relief and braille, batch-checked against its neighbours, labelled with its schedule reference and packed in installation order. Each one carries a 10-year warranty.

01Why it matters

The problem this solves

01

A good drawing can still be made badly

Contrast that drifts a few LRV points on the wrong substrate, braille set from an unchecked translation, forty door plates with no two logos at the same height. A scheme survives a mediocre drawing far better than it survives poor making.

02

Compliance is measured on the panel, not the swatch

Finishes move between batches, and a colour approved on screen can arrive several points adrift. We verify the made sign, because that is the thing on the wall and the thing the certificate describes.

03

Four hundred signs have to read as one

Signage is judged comparatively. Nobody notices a logo sitting 3mm low until they've passed six doors and the seventh is different, so consistency across a run matters as much as the quality of any single sign.

02How we do it

Step by step

The same sequence on every project, run by our own teams, so nothing falls between packages.

  1. 01

A production file you can approve

The approved design is rebuilt as a production drawing: substrate, thickness and finish named by product, colour references tied to RAL or Pantone with measured LRV, the tactile and braille layer as separate geometry, and fixing method and drill centres taken from the site survey.

  2. 02

Materials chosen for where the sign lives

Stove-enamelled aluminium is our default for durable panels, with stainless steel, acrylic, cast vinyls and photoluminescent material specified where the location calls for them. Coastal sites get fastener grades to match the exposure, and anything likely to change gets a replaceable insert.

  3. 03

Colour matched to a physical reference

Colour is matched to a physical standard under known light, never to a monitor. Brand colours that fail contrast are flagged before production, while changing them still costs an email.

  4. 04

    Made and checked in batches

Runs are batched by artwork and checked against each other, so type sits on the same baseline, pictograms at the same optical size and colour from the same session across every panel of a sign type.

  5. 05

    Measured before dispatch

Each sign type is checked against its drawing for size, fixing positions and finish, then measured for contrast against the 30 LRV point baseline. Braille is proofread as text, raised characters are checked by hand, safety symbols are confirmed as the prescribed ISO 7010 forms and bilingual panels are checked for parity.

  6. 06

Labelled and packed in installation order

Every sign leaves labelled with its schedule reference and destination (level, corridor, door) and stacked in the sequence the fitters will work, with protection specified for each finish and film left on handled faces until they are up.

04Standards

Compliant by default

The standards and regulations this work is designed to. Compliance is the baseline, not an upsell.

BS 8300
30 LRV points of contrast between adjacent surfaces as the working baseline for signage, verified on the made panel because print and substrate both move the number.
Technical Guidance Document M (Part M)
Key location information in tactile form where it can be reached and touched. We set uncontracted braille as standard practice and check raised characters by hand.
ISO 7010
Prescribed graphical forms for safety signs. They are reproduced exactly and never redrawn to suit a brand.
ISO 17398
Classifies photoluminescent safety sign materials by luminance and durability. Where we supply photoluminescent signs, the class certificate goes into the handover file.
Official Languages Act 2003
Irish and English at equal prominence on public-body signage, resolved in the design and checked again on the made panel.

06FAQs

Common questions

Something else? Ask us directly.

What materials are your signs made from?

Our default for durable panels is stove-enamelled aluminium, with stainless steel, acrylic, cast vinyls, photoluminescent material and others specified where the location calls for them. The choice follows the site: inside or out, coastal or inland, and whether the content will change.

What does the 10-year warranty cover?

Every sign we supply carries a 10-year warranty. Because we design, supply and install, one party is answerable for the specification, the product and the fixing, which is the point of a warranty that means something.

How do you know a sign is compliant before it reaches site?

We measure it. Contrast is checked with an instrument on the made panel against the 30 LRV point baseline, braille is proofread as text, raised characters are checked by hand and safety symbols are checked against ISO 7010. That record is what the compliance certificate is built from.

Can you match our brand colours?

Yes, against a physical RAL or Pantone reference under known light. Where a brand pairing doesn't reach the contrast accessibility requires, we flag it at the production drawing stage and propose the nearest pairing that does.

How are signs delivered to site?

Labelled with their schedule reference and destination, protected for their finish, and packed in the order the fitters will install them, so nobody unwraps eleven panels on a finished floor to reach the twelfth.

Can you make a replacement panel that matches years later?

Yes, from the record. The production file and materials schedule hold the finish, colour and fixing details, and spares from the original batch avoid the slight colour drift that comes with a new run.
